Government will not hesitate to sanction teachers who demonstrate indolence and ineptitude in their places of work.

More than 6,129 teaching and non-teaching staff members at public secondary schools in the state of Ekiti have been promoted by the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission.

Mrs. Rhoda Ojo, Chairman of the Ekiti Teaching Service Commission, stated that the staff members were those that were successful in the promotion process that held in the state in 2022/2023 and has just finished.

The TESCOM chairman gave this information in Ado Ekiti during a conference for teaching and non-teaching personnel of secondary schools, according to a statement from the Commission that was made public in Ado Ekiti throughout the day of Thursday.

The chairman stated, “5,669 of the newly promoted staff are teachers while the remaining 460 are non-teaching staff.

“I urge our school principals to ensure full control of their schools. Government will not tolerate hooliganism, violence and indiscipline in schools.

“Government will not hesitate to sanction teachers who demonstrate indolence and ineptitude in their places of work.”

Mr. Michael Boluwade, the Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti Teaching Service Commission, issued a directive to the principals, urging them to stop their teachers from seeking postings and transfers in the middle of sessions.

He emphasised that this would have a detrimental impact on the academic achievement of the students.

He also gave his word that the commission would continue to place a high priority on the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff in secondary schools in the state of Ekiti.

This was done with the intention of achieving higher levels of productivity and good performance among students.
