On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu gave his approval for the appointment of 774 National Health Fellows.
This is a significant effort that is being spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Health to encourage long-term reforms within Nigeria’s healthcare system.
In a statement that he signed on Thursday and headed “President Tinubu approves employment for 774 health fellows,” Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who serves as the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this information.
Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, was present as Tinubu made the unexpected gesture. Other people who were present were prominent government officials, development partners, and traditional leaders.

Professor Mohammed Pate, who serves as the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, has expressed his excitement about the initiative and the significant part that the 774 fellows would play in improving the health system in Nigeria.
“I am here to inform you that the social movement to improve the health of Nigerians has begun, and we are already witnessing positive results.”
