Schools in Kano to Remain Closed Until April 6

The Kano State Government has announced that all private and voluntary schools in the state will remain closed until April 6, 2025.

This directive, issued by the Ministry of Education, requires all primary and post-primary schools to adhere to the 2024/25 school calendar.

The Director of Special Duties, Ministry of Education, Mustapha Yahya, stated that the schools must close on February 28, 2025, and reopen on April 6, 2025. Any school that fails to comply with this directive will face penalties, including “appropriate sanctions.”

According to Governor Abba Yusuf, this measure aims to enhance teaching and learning while ensuring balanced and sustainable school operations. The governor emphasized the importance of adhering to the approved school calendar to ensure that students receive quality education.
