The Edo State Government has intensified its efforts to combat kidnapping in the state, demolishing houses linked to kidnappers and arresting suspects.

On Wednesday, the Edo State Government began demolishing houses used as hideouts by kidnappers in Illeh, Esan West Local Government Area, and Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area. The exercise was led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Akhere Paul.


Two alleged kidnappers, Utubor Uchenna and Felix Ebama, were arrested and revealed that they collected N10 million in ransom from two victims in their last operation. The suspects, who belonged to a gang of seven, admitted to the crime and identified the properties as their hideouts.
