The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of the alleged ritual killing of a 28-year-old Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode. Instead, the police confirmed that Ogunbode was declared missing, and an investigation into his disappearance is ongoing.

Ogunbode, a graduate of Political Science Education, was reported missing on January 16. His disappearance sparked widespread concern and speculation, with some reports suggesting that he had been ritually killed.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that Ogunbode’s mutilated body was not found, contrary to social media reports. Hundeyin stated that three suspects, including a prophet, have been arrested in connection with the case.

“We are investigating a case of a missing person, not murder,” Hundeyin said. “The police did not discover any mutilated body of the missing graduate as being circulated on social media.”

The management of LASU expressed sadness over Ogunbode’s disappearance. Called for swift action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice. The university’s Deputy Registrar, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, condemned the alleged senseless act of violence and encouraged students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

“The university management is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic disappearance of Ogunbode, a recent graduate of LASU,” Thomas-Onashile said. “We call for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice.”

The police are investigating Ogunbode’s disappearance. The case is being treated as a missing person’s investigation, rather than a murder inquiry. The authorities are working to locate Ogunbode and bring those responsible for his disappearance to justice.

The LASU management has assured students of their commitment to safety and security on campus. The university has urged students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

“The safety and security of our students remain our top priority,” Thomas-Onashile said. “We are committed to collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that our university remains a safe environment for all.”
