No student should have to live in fear or lose their life due to the failure of the government to provide adequate security.

In response to the terrible murder of Adedamola Quadri Ogunbode, a recent graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) who was 28 years old, the Southwest Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has demanded that an inquiry be conducted in a manner that is both comprehensive and open to public scrutiny.
It is believed that a self-proclaimed prophet carried out the ritualistic killing of Quadri in Ojo, which is located in the state of Lagos. Comrade Kuku Isaiah Eromidayo, the Public Relations Officer of NANS Southwest, issued a statement on Wednesday. In which the student body denounced the killing. The statement described the incident as another indication of the mounting security concerns that students and young Nigerians are facing.

The association encouraged the government of Lagos State, as well as security agencies and law enforcement officials, to fulfil their responsibility to ensure that the deceased graduate receives prompt justice and to take tangible measures to prevent instances of this nature in the future.
The statement read, “No student should have to live in fear or lose their life due to the failure of the government to provide adequate security.
“Increased Security in Student Communities – Deployment of more security personnel around student hostels, campuses, and crime-prone areas.
“Regulation of Religious Institutions – Stricter oversight to prevent criminals from using religion as a cover for illegal activities.
“Collaboration Between Students and Security Agencies – A structured engagement between student leaders, law enforcement, and school authorities to enhance proactive security measures.”
“NANS Zone D stands in solidarity with the family of Adedamola Ogunbode and the entire LASU community. We will not rest until justice is served and security is strengthened for all Nigerian students.”
