A coalition of women’s associations, the Women Rights and Justice Forum (WRJF), has urged lawmakers to demand Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s resignation amid sexual harassment allegations involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The coalition plans to organize a one-million-person gathering to protest the alleged harassment in the Federal Capital Territory. According to WRJF Coordinator Hajiya Hauwa Suleiman Usman, “Senator Akpabio must resign, or we remain on the roads till he does so.”
Usman condemned sexual harassment in public offices, stating the protest aims to make a strong statement against oppression and harassment of women in politics. She emphasized that decisive action is necessary to deter similar behavior.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had accused Akpabio of blocking her motions after she rejected his advances. For more information on this developing story, you can try searching online for the latest updates.
