If you still have the same set of people in charge, you can’t expect different results
It has been announced by Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, who is the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for governorship in Lagos State in 2023, that the PDP has lost faith in itself as a result of the ongoing internal conflicts that have been occurring
In an interview that took place on Tuesday on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Jandor, who had left the PDP on Monday, highlighted the leadership crisis that was occurring at the party’s national headquarters as a primary factor for his decision to leave the party.
As a result of the departure of Iyorchia Ayu, the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, has been subjected to an increasing amount of criticism from members of the party. Many of these people blame him for the PDP’s worsening problems.
Specifically in the South-South, where a Zonal Congress was held on February 22 without the approval of the governors. Jandor described the turmoil that occurred at both the national and state levels as being extremely detrimental to the public image of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“Who goes around posting that they are a member of PDP these days? With what is happening at both the national and state levels, the optics are bad. Even the party itself has given up.
“A political party is made up of people who come together to build it. But if toxicity persists within the system, the same problems will remain. Today, those who once worked against the PDP are the ones leading it. So where do we start from?
“If you still have the same set of people in charge, you can’t expect different results.
On 3rd of March, Jandor who was running for governor of Lagos in 2023 as a candidate for the PDP declared his resignation from the party.
On the other hand, he did not disclose his subsequent action, but he did guarantee that he would announce his subsequent political move within the next six months.
In addition, he stated that he was leaving the party together with his supporters in all of the state’s twenty local governments and thirty-seven Local Council Development Areas.
During a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos, Adediran revealed this information on Monday. The indiscipline and anti-party activities that have become the standard in his former party are not, according to him, the reasons he is quitting the party.
He claims that these activities are tied to his decision to leave the party. It was stated by the former candidate for governorship of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who was accompanied by a large group of supporters, that the decision to break ways with the PDP was a result of acts made by some of the party’s officials, notably Chief Olabode George, who had previously served as the Deputy National Chairman.
“I am here before you today with a heavy heart but a clear conscience. We have dedicated ourselves to the ideals of democracy, good governance and a pursuit of a better Lagos.
“However, it has been found evident that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, both at the national and state levels, has failed to uphold these principles.
“The persistent anti-party activities, internal sabotage and lack of discipline have led me and my supporters to leave.”
