Parents of senior secondary children are now subject to a new N2,700 fee levied by the Ondo State government. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has authorized the charge, which is intended to buy educational supplies for SS3 pupils.

In a circular sent to public secondary school principals on December 30, 2024, the Ministry made this announcement (ANCOPSS).
According to the statement, the fee is a component of the government’s initiatives to support academic integrity and offer high-quality education.

The resources intended to improve students’ readiness for their final year exams and discourage exam cheating will be purchased with the fee.

The text of the statement

In line with our collective goal of ensuring academic excellence and upholding integrity in examinations, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has approved the Parents Teachers Association’s (PTA) initiative to collect the sum of two thousand seven hundred naira (N2,700) only to procure essential educational materials for SS3 students.

These materials are designed to enhance the students’ preparedness for their final year examinations and deter examination malpractice.

This initiative is critical for enhanced academic preparedness, promotion of integrity and complementing the government’s efforts to provide quality education.

To facilitate this process, each school is required to notify SS3 parents of the approved sum, coordinate the collection and promptly remit the same to the designated PTA account. Account Name: National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria.
