The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have joined forces to tackle the menace of tanker crashes in Anambra State.
This partnership aims to find lasting solutions to tanker accidents and associated fatalities in the state.
According to Corps Commander Joyce Alexander, the Sector Commander of the FRSC Anambra State Command, collaborative efforts are essential in addressing the pressing issue of tanker accidents. The FRSC has agreed to work with NUPENG to establish truck parks, citing United Nation’s road traffic regulations.
Key Objectives of the Partnership:
– _Establishing Truck Parks_: The FRSC and NUPENG will work together to establish designated truck parks, enabling drivers to rest and avoid night travel.

The Chairman of NUPENG, Izuchukwu Onaka, emphasized the need for improved road conditions, which he identified as the primary cause of tanker accidents. He appealed to the government to prioritize road improvements and requested the FRSC to communicate the need for designated truck parks.
