Sporting Lisbon has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Taça de Portugal following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Gil Vicente in Barcelos, concluding the quarter-finals.
The sole goal of the match came from Belgian defender Debast, who found the net in the 68th minute with a deflection off Castillo, ending Sporting’s frustrating run of five games without a win across all competitions. In a nail-biting finish, Ruben Fernandes saw a potential equalizer denied by a mere three centimeters in the 88th minute.
Looking ahead, Sporting will face Rio Ave in the semi-finals, with the first leg set to take place at Alvalade and the return fixture scheduled for Vila do Conde in April.
