LASEPA Seals Hotels, Churches, Mosques, Factories

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has undertaken a significant enforcement campaign, which has resulted in the closure of a number of enterprises located around the state for violating environmental standards.

The raid targeted businesses in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Agege, and Kosofe, among other localities, with the primary focus being on the illegal placement of gas refilling facilities and the release of excessive amounts of noise pollution.

Gas plants, Hotels, religious centers, and industries were among the establishments that were shut down after it was discovered that they were in violation of state environmental rules.

Several gas refilling factories, including Chibuzor Gas and Dolax Gas, as well as Eco Fresh, a firm that produces pure water, were given the green light to operate in residential neighborhoods.

Feel at Home, Oak Spring Hotel, Pholar Suites,Home Guest House, and 18plus Hotel are some of the establishments that have been impacted by this condition.

A number of religious organizations, including the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Assemblies of God Church, and the Anwarul Islam Movement, were also affected.

In addition, the agency expanded its activities to include Maza Maza, Festac Town, Abule Ado, Navy Town, Satellite Town, Ori Ade Amuwo, Agboju, and Amuwo.

More establishments, including as lounges, restaurants, motels, and warehouses, were shut down in these villages.

Woody’s Lounge, Lifestyle Hotel, Obiagu Bar Lounge & Event Center, Flexus Hotel & Suites, Fairview Hotel, Hot Sport Bar, and Bamade Park were among the establishments that were shut down.

There were also a number of warehouses that were impacted, including Mikky Cosmetics, Global Habib (Ponmo/Cowskin Warehouse), and Royal Rose Company (Tyre).

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, provided an explanation that the enforcement activity was conducted with the intention of protecting the health and safety of the general public.

Ajayi Stated, “Environmental violations, including noise pollution and the illegal siting of gas refilling plants, pose serious risks to lives and disturb public peace.

“Our efforts aim to restore order and ensure adherence to the state’s environmental regulations.

“Noise pollution and other environmental infractions disrupt the peace and well-being of our communities.

“Today’s operation reinforces our zero-tolerance approach towards defaulters and our determination to uphold environmental regulations.”
