Angelo State University Handball Club won three national titles and placed third overall at the 72nd U.S. Handball Association (USHA) National Collegiate Championships at the Multnomah Atletic Club in PortLand. Oregon
ASU’s team, made up of 18 students, competed against teams from 30 universities across the United States, Canada and Ireland. The Rams placed third in the combined open division, with the women’s team taking third in the women’s open division and the men’s team finishing fourth in the men’s open division.
In individual competition, Kelly Salisbury won gold in the Women’s C Singles Division. She later teamed up with her twin sister, Kimberly Hostetter, to claim gold in the Women’s C Doubles Division. Teammates Taigan Rivers and Kinzi Jo Leon also brought home gold in the Women’s B Doubles Division.
On the men’s side, Cade Whitley earned silver in the Men’s B3 Singles Division, while Logan Leto took silver in the Men’s C1 Singles Division.
The tournament recognized two ASU athletes with superlative awards. Leon received the Women’s Most Improved Player Award, and Salisbury earned the Spirit of Handball Award for her competitiveness, sportsmanship and team spirit.
