Reno Omokri, a vocal social media commentator and critic of Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a fresh salvo against the former Kaduna State Governor. Omokri’s latest broadside targets El-Rufai’s lackluster performance during his eight-year tenure as Governor, asserting that he has no moral authority to accuse the National Security Adviser and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of security failures.
This latest exchange is part of an ongoing feud between Omokri and El-Rufai, with Omokri determined to expose El-Rufai’s governance record.
Malam Nasir el-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has made fresh accusations against the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Federal Government, claiming they have failed to improve security in Kaduna and are only paying ransom to bandits. However, this allegation has been dismissed as a baseless claim by a “frustrated man” who is bitter about being rebuffed in his attempt to continue ruling Kaduna by remote control.

A closer look at el-Rufai’s tenure as Governor reveals a dismal record on security. During his eight years in office, not a single bandit leader was arrested, killed, or convicted. In stark contrast, the current administration has made significant strides in tackling insecurity, with over 14 notorious bandit leaders killed, including:
- Kachalla Ali Kawaje
- Kachalla Halilu Sububu
- Kachalla Damina
- Kachalla Dangote
- Kachalla Jafaru
- Kachalla Barume
- Kachalla Shehu
- Tsoho
- Kachalla Yellow Mai Buhu
- Yellow Sirajo
- Kachalla Dan Muhammadu
- Kachalla Makasko
- Yellow Hassan
- Boderi
- Kachalla Dan Ba Birki
- Auta Dan Mai Jan Kai

The outcome of these efforts has been a significant return of peace to Kaduna and its neighboring states. The era of prominent persons openly meeting with heavily armed bandit leaders is now a thing of the past. The genocide in Southern Kaduna has ceased, and the practice of paying ransoms to bandits has been discontinued. Instead, bandits are now being held accountable, with many being killed, arrested, tried, and convicted.
El-Rufai’s accusations are seen as a desperate attempt to deflect attention from his own failed leadership, which was marked by allegations of theft, money laundering, and other criminal activities.
The entire Kaduna State House of Assembly indicted him on these charges. Nigerians are advised to disregard el-Rufai’s claims as those of a “drowning man” seeking to take others down with him.
