159 Stranded Nigerians Returns From Libya

The Libyan Department for Combating Illegal Migration, consulate offices, and IOM helped send 159 Nigerians home from Libya.

With the assistance of the Libyan Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), personnel from consular offices, and representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at least 159 Nigerians who were stuck in Libya have been sent home.

The development was reported on Wednesday by Migrant Rescue Watch, an organization that monitors migration concerns, through its official X handle.

After departing from Benina International Airport in Benghazi, Libya, the group, mainly consisted of women and children, was transported back to Nigeria.

Just two weeks ago,IREPORT247NEW reported that with the assistance of the Nigerian embassy, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and the Libyan Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), 148 Nigerian migrants—including women and children—were repatriated from Libya.

In collaboration with NEMA, NCFRMI, Nigeria Immigration Service, DSS, Port Health, and Nigeria Police Force, IOM provided them with the assistance they required.
