Erling Halland back to Manchester City starting Line against Tottenham scored the only goal as they defeat Tottenham 1-0 in north London. Spurs had the chance to defeat the reigning top flight league champions in three games within a season for the first time since 1984-85 (Liverpool) but despite an improved second-half display, they could not win.
Halland scored the only goal of the game in the 12th minute, converting from close range after good footwork form jeremy Doku. that goal saw Haaland reach 20 Premier League goals for the third successive season since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. He became just the second player to score 20+ goals in each of his first three Premier League seasons.
Haaland thought he’d added a second goal deep into added time, but his strike was disallowed following a long VAR delay after he was adjudged to have handled the ball before finding the back of the net.
Ange Postecoglou’s young side fought well, especially in the second half where they posed much more attacking threat.
This win takes City back into the top four of the Premier League table above Chelsea.
