The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today, Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Chieftains of the party will gather at the national secretariat to attend the meeting, which is one of the party’s statutory organs under Article 11 of its constitution.

A notice issued by the party’s National Working Committee last Friday announced the meetings of the national caucus and NEC. The notice read in part: “Notice is hereby given for the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party.”

This meeting comes after a long hiatus, with the last meetings of the statutory organs held on August 3, 2023. Some party chieftains, including Salihu Lukman, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, have criticized the APC National Working Committee led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for failing to convene meetings in line with the party’s constitution.

The constitution states that “The National Executive Committee shall meet every quarter and or at any time decided by the National Chairman or at the request made in writing by at least two-thirds of the members of the NEC provided that not less than 14 days’ notice is given for the meeting to be summoned.”

The national caucus meeting was held on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, and issues discussed will be further deliberated upon today. The meeting is seen as a response to criticism of the Ganduje-led NWC’s handling of party affairs.
