In a move set to boost basic education in Nigeria, Dr. Grace Adagba, Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has been appointed as the Sub-Dean of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) North Central.
Dr. Adagba hit the ground running, presenting the North Central progress report at the ongoing UBEC-SUBEB Management Meeting in Abuja. The report highlighted key achievements, challenges, and ongoing initiatives in the North Central Region.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved so far,” Dr. Adagba said, emphasizing the Benue State Government’s commitment to advancing basic education. “We have successfully accessed three years’ worth of matching grants, which has enabled us to undertake various projects.”
These projects include infrastructure development, water and sanitation initiatives, quality assurance programs, instructional materials distribution, and teacher development initiatives.
Dr. Adagba made key requests during her presentation, urging UBEC to “allocate more funding for vocational education, create opportunities for state-led initiatives under the Teacher Professional Development Fund, and adopt a more flexible approach to the distribution of matching grant funds.”
