Gurfata community, Ibwa ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, are suffering due to severe water scarcity.

In response to the severe water shortage that is affecting the Gurfata community in Ibwa Ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, the civic organization MonitNG has issued a call to action to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as well as the senator who represents the FCT, Ireti Kingibe.
On Wednesday, MonitNG issued a statement that was published on its X account, in which it brought attention to the precarious situation that locals are in since they do not have access to boreholes or wells that are trustworthy, which forces them to rely on contaminated streams for their water supply.
The organization issued a warning that this had resulted in significant health issues, including widespread outbreaks of diseases that are transmitted through water and even fatalities.
MonitNG stated, “This is Gurfata community, Ibwa ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, are suffering due to severe water scarcity.
“Without boreholes or reliable wells, residents rely on contaminated streams, leading to health crises and even deaths.
“We urge you to urgently address this issue and provide access to clean water, a basic necessity for every human.”
