Senator Kawu, Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum were suspended from NNPP

Senator Kawu Sumaila, who represents the Kano South Senatorial district, has been suspended by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) due to his alleged anti-party activities and his association with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.

In addition to Senator Kawu, Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum were suspended from the party.

The NNPP leadership announced the decision in Kano State on Sunday.

At a press conference in Kano, Hashimu Dungurawa, the chairman of the NNPP’s Kano State chapter, stated that the suspended members had violated party principles by engaging in actions that were in opposition to the party’s doctrine.

The Chairman issued a resounding condemnation of Senator Kawu’s purported lack of devotion, taking into account the fact that the NNPP had provided him and the other individuals with complimentary tickets during the most recent elections.

In spite of this backing, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that they had associated themselves with people from the opposition party.

The chairman stated that prominent APC figures, National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, were present at a recent project commissioning celebration, but the NNPP was not invited by Senator Kawu.

Also, during a different event that took place in Kano over the weekend, Ganduje made a veiled reference to the possibility of inviting senior NNPP executives, senators, and legislators to join the APC.

The chairman, on the other hand, stated that there was room for reconciliation and that the party might reconsider its decision if the suspended members admitted their sins and asked for forgiveness.

The chairman stated, “These individuals were elected into the National Assembly under the NNPP platform, yet they have chosen to betray the trust placed in them by the party.

“Their actions contradict the principles and tenets of our party, and as such, we are left with no choice but to take disciplinary action.

“What is even more shocking is that key members of the APC were invited to Senator Kawu’s daughter’s wedding, as well as the commissioning of some of his projects in Sumaila Local Government Area. This is a clear indication of where his loyalty lies.

“If they realize their errors and come back to the party with genuine remorse, we will consider reinstating them.”
