Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been sworn in for his first complete four-year term
The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been sworn in for his first complete four-year term following the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in December 2023.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted on Monday, February 24, at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital, two months after Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious in the governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the seventh governor of Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa, who had previously served as the deputy governor, was elevated to the position of governor on December 27, 2023, following the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Before he passed away, Akeredolu had passed on his power to Aiyedatiwa, in addition to having fought a protracted struggle against disease.
In the subsequent election, he was victorious as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship of Ondo in 2024.
He competed with seventeen other candidates, one of which was Ajayi, who had previously served as Akeredolu’s deputy during his first time in office.
