Jubilation As Governor Seyi Makinde Pledges Pension Reform.

Governor Seyi Makinde has made a significant announcement, pledging to upwardly review Oyo State pensioners’ pension.

A framework which has not been reviewed since 2007.

To achieve this, he promises to inaugurate a committee dedicated to favourable pension reforms.

This was expressed during the year 2025 annual Oyo State Civil ServantsThanksgiving service, to usher in the new service year held at the Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan today.

During the event, Governor Seyi Makinde expressed gratitude to civil servants for their dedication to making the state better for all.

He also promised to deliver better governance in the new year.

Dr. Olusegun Abatan, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Oyo State and South West Public Relations Officer, commended Governor Makinde for prioritizing pensioners’ well-being.

He highlighted the positive impact of Makinde’s administration, stating that pensioners no longer suffer as they did before he took office Since becoming governor, Makinde ensured payment of pensions, gratuities, and debts owed by previous administrations.

However, pensioners have continued to face challenges, including unpaid arrears totaling approximately #80 billion.
