The Premier League has announced its monthly award winners for August 2025, with Jack Grealish, Arne Slot, Dominik Szoboszlai and James Trafford all recognised for standout performances in the opening weeks of the new season.

Grealish crowned Player of the Month

Everton winger Jack Grealish has been voted the EA Sports Player of the Month, the first time he has ever claimed the prize.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Toffees on a season-long loan from Manchester City, has enjoyed a flying start at Goodison Park.

After making his debut from the bench in Everton’s opener at Leeds, Grealish went on to register four assists in his next two matches – home and away victories over Brighton and Wolves.

His creativity has been unmatched, with his assist tally standing two clear of any other Premier League player after just three games.

He also became the first Everton player in history to deliver multiple assists in back-to-back league fixtures.

It marks a personal milestone for the England international, who has made 193 Premier League appearances since debuting for Aston Villa in 2014 and won three league titles with Manchester City.

Everton boss David Moyes praised Grealish’s attitude and impact:

“It’s a big privilege to get that accolade and I’m delighted for Jack. Everybody knows he’s back again. He’s looked after himself, worked incredibly hard and come back with the right mindset to produce. This is just the start for him.”

With Everton hosting Grealish’s former club Aston Villa on Saturday, he could extend his record by becoming the first Everton player to register multiple assists in three straight Premier League games.

Slot named Manager of the Month

At the other end of the table, defending champion Liverpool continued their momentum under Arne Slot, who has been voted Barclays Manager of the Month.

The Dutchman, in only his second season at Anfield, led the Reds to a perfect record with three wins from three games – a 4-2 thriller against Bournemouth, a dramatic 3-2 victory away at Newcastle, and a hard-fought 1-0 success over last season’s runners-up Arsenal.

Liverpool ended the month as the league’s top scorers with eight goals and the only team boasting a 100 per cent record.

It is Slot’s second Premier League managerial award, having first won the prize in November 2024.

Szoboszlai nets Goal of the Month

Adding to Liverpool’s success, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scooped Guinness Goal of the Month for his spectacular winner against Arsenal at Anfield.

The 24-year-old Hungarian curled a dipping 30-yard free-kick into the top corner via the inside of the post, sealing a crucial victory for the Reds.

His strike topped an eight-goal shortlist after a public vote was combined with the verdict of a panel of football experts.

In doing so, Szoboszlai made history by becoming the first Hungarian player ever to win a Premier League monthly award.

Trafford claims Save of the Month

Meanwhile, Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford won the Coca-Cola Save of the Month for his remarkable reflex stop in the champions’ clash with Brighton.

The 22-year-old, who has established himself as Pep Guardiola’s first-choice keeper, produced a stunning left-handed save to deny Jan Paul van Hecke’s deflected close-range effort.

It is Trafford’s first monthly award since the category was introduced in the 2022/23 season, and he is the first Manchester City goalkeeper to claim the accolade.

With the first set of monthly awards now handed out, the spotlight shifts to September as Grealish, Slot, Szoboszlai and Trafford all aim to build on their bright starts and keep their names in the headlines during the next chapter of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
