RATTAWU BCOS election

The much-anticipated transition of leadership within the RATTAWU Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) chapter took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

IREPORT247NEWS reported that the election was conducted peacefully, with both candidates and members showing maturity and restraint throughout the exercise.

To ensure harmony within the union, stakeholders agreed to prune down the contest to only one position—that of the Secretary.

The election, which was conducted with 250 ballot papers, lasted for just a little over an hour. Out of 127 valid votes recorded, two were declared void.

At the end of the poll, Comrade Bashiru Aliyu secured victory with 72 votes, defeating his opponent, Comrade Olanike Aina, who garnered 53 votes.

Shortly after the announcement, the newly elected executives of the Oyo RATTAWU chapter were sworn into office.

One of the most remarkable highlights of the day was the show of sportsmanship among contestants. Comrade Aina, despite losing the race, was the first to walk up to the winner to offer congratulations.

The gesture was warmly reciprocated by Comrade Aliyu, setting a tone of unity and solidarity.

Members, in turn, joined in open celebrations, signaling a shared commitment to the union’s progress rather than division.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with IREPORT247NEWS shortly after the event, Comrade Olayade dismissed rumors of factionalism within RATTAWU.

“Both contestants embraced each other warmly, and thereafter, members joined in celebrations. Election has come and gone, so there is nothing like division in our union.”
