Israel attacks Yemen after deadly airstrikes in Qatar, sparks global condemnation

Sanaa, Yemen– The Israeli military has carried out airstrikes in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and the al-Jawf governorate, killing and wounding several people.
This attack comes just a day after Israel targeted Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, in an attempt to assassinate key figures in the group.
The strikes in Yemen targeted multiple areas, including a medical station on al-Sitteen Street in the capital, with casualty figures yet to be confirmed.
The Qatari government has strongly condemned the Israeli attack, terming it a “cowardly” and “criminal” act that constitutes a blatant violation of international laws and norms.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani called the attack “state terrorism” and emphasized that it “must not be overlooked”. He added that Qatar is mobilizing all tools to respond to the attack, including forming a legal team to hold Israel accountable.
The Israeli military confirmed the attack, stating that it struck military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in Sanaa and al-Jawf.
The targets included military camps, the Houthi’s military public relations headquarters, and a fuel storage facility used by the terrorist regime.
Israeli Minister of Defence Israel Katz said that “the long arm of the State of Israel will reach and strike terror wherever it may be and from any place from which a threat to our citizens emanates”.
The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also condemned Israel’s strikes as a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar”.
The international community is increasingly concerned about the escalation of violence and the impact on civilians, with over 64,000 Palestinians killed since Israel launched its war in October 2023.

The Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said that the group used surface-to-air missiles against the Israeli incursion, forcing some Israeli planes to turn back before discharging their weapons.
Saree accused Israel of trying to pressure the group to abandon their support for Gaza, but pledged operations against Israel would continue until its genocidal war on Gaza halts.
The Israeli airstrikes in Yemen and Qatar have sparked widespread condemnation, with many countries calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Qatari Emir, condemning the attacks on Doha. The Qatari Emir also welcomed the UAE President in Doha, condemning Israeli aggression.
The situation remains volatile, with concerns about the potential for further escalation and humanitarian crises.
The Qatari government’s strong response and the Houthi group’s pledge to continue operations against Israel highlight the complexity and volatility of the situation.
The Yemen Oil and Gas Corporation reported that an Israeli aircraft struck a medical station on al-Sitteen Street in the capital.
Residents told newsmen the bombardment appeared to target a command-and-control facility located between two mountains near Sanaa, though the full extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
The Israeli military said the strikes targeted Houthi military installations in Sanaa and Al Jawf.
According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), the operation hit military camps where the Houthis “gathered intelligence and planned attacks against Israel”, a fuel storage facility used in Houthi operations, and the Houthi Public Relations Department, claiming they spread “propaganda and psychological warfare”.
