Global outrage erupts over Israel’s deadly strike on Qatar

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has taken a dramatic turn with Israel’s recent attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, sparking widespread international condemnation.

On September 9, 2025, Israeli forces launched a targeted strike on a residential compound in the Leqtaifiya district of Doha, where senior Hamas officials were meeting to discuss a potential ceasefire proposal.

The attack resulted in the deaths of six people, including a Qatari security official, but Hamas leaders reportedly survived.

The Israeli military confirmed the strike, stating that it was a targeted operation against Hamas’s top leadership.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office released a statement asserting that the attack was Israel’s sole responsibility. However, the Qatari government swiftly condemned the strike as “state terrorism” and a “blatant violation of international law.”

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized that the attack would not be overlooked and that Qatar would take all necessary steps to hold Israel accountable.

The international community has been vocal in its criticism of the Israeli strike. UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack as a “flagrant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Arab League and several countries, including Algeria, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, have also denounced the attack.

US President Donald Trump claimed that he had informed Qatar about the impending strike, but Qatari officials disputed this account, stating that the warning came only after the bombing had begun.

As the world focused on the Israeli strike in Doha, Israeli forces continued their relentless bombardment of Gaza, killing over 50 people, including nine Palestinians seeking aid in the south.

The Israeli military has been pushing Palestinians to flee to the south, despite the dire conditions in the designated “humanitarian area” of al-Mawasi.

The Palestinian Civil Defence has warned of a “crime of forced displacement in violation of all international laws,” with over 90% of Gaza’s population displaced multiple times in the ongoing conflict.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, describing al-Mawasi as a vast camp “concentrating hungry Palestinians in despair.”

The agency has warned of famine affecting half a million people, and the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for an immediate ceasefire and increased aid to the affected areas.

The Israeli strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar has escalated tensions in the region, sparking global condemnation and calls for restraint. As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, the international community must work towards finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza requires immediate attention, and efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire and increased aid to the affected areas are crucial to preventing further suffering.
