Oyo APC staged a protest in Ibadan to support lawmaker Ibraheem Shittu amid controversy over a N300 billion loan approved for Governor Makinde.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State staged a protest on Monday, expressing solidarity with one of its lawmakers, Hon. Ibraheem Shittu, who the party claims has been targeted for allegedly exposing the N300 billion loan approved by the Oyo State House of Assembly for Governor Seyi Makinde.

The demonstration took place at the APC secretariat in the Oke Ado area of Ibadan, with the party chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, and several party officials in attendance.
IREPORT247NEWS reported that the Oyo State House of Assembly issued a firm rebuttal to Shittu’s claims.
The lawmaker, representing Saki West State Constituency, had alleged that an emergency plenary session held on August 19, 2025, was convened secretly to approve the Executive’s loan request without proper notification to members.

Shittu described the session as a covert attempt by the House leadership to rubber-stamp the N300 billion loan.
In response, the Assembly leadership dismissed Shittu’s allegations as misleading, politically motivated, and outright falsehoods.
The legislature further suggested that Shittu either demonstrated a lack of understanding of financial procedures or intentionally misrepresented facts to mislead his constituents.
In addition to addressing the loan issue, the Assembly highlighted Shittu’s attendance record, noting that he had participated in only 20 percent of plenary sessions since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly, making him the least active member.

The APC, however, maintained that the protest was necessary to defend Shittu, who, the party claimed, had been receiving threatening messages following his disclosure of the alleged loan irregularities.

Speaking to journalists, Alhaji Abas affirmed the party’s unwavering support for the lawmaker.
“We are here to show our support to him for taking the bold step to stand against this loan,” Abas said.

“We are behind him. We are here to tell the governor that Oyo State should not be reduced to a perpetual loan collector.
“We are not satisfied with what has been done with previous loans. I have the protest letter here; Shittu should not be victimised. The process to take over Oyo State has started.”
