Osun State launches Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service to boost digital access, support education, businesses, and connect communities statewide
Osun State is taking a bold step into the digital age with the launch of Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to give residents, students, and businesses seamless access to online resources.
The initiative reflects the state’s ambition to make technology a bridge to education, entrepreneurship, and community development.

Announcing the launch, Kolapo Alimi, the State Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, described Imole Wi-Fi as a tool to unlock opportunities for every citizen.
He explained that beyond just providing internet access, the initiative is meant to stimulate growth across education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce, and other vital sectors.
The first stage of the rollout focuses on strategic locations that will benefit the largest number of people.
Free Wi-Fi will be available at Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and offices under the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.
By starting with these hubs, the government hopes to create spaces where students can study online, entrepreneurs can expand their businesses, and residents can explore digital tools for personal and professional growth.
Governor Ademola Adeleke hailed the project as transformative for the state.
“Imole Wi-Fi is more than just internet access—it is a gateway to new opportunities. By connecting people, we are breaking down barriers and helping communities thrive in every sector of our economy,” he said.
The Governor highlighted that easy access to digital infrastructure would improve education, facilitate healthcare awareness, and encourage innovation in agriculture and commerce.
Building a Digital Future, One Step at a Time
Azeez Badmus, Special Adviser to the project, described the launch as just the beginning of a wider plan.
“This is the first step in our journey. As Imole Wi-Fi spreads across the state, we will introduce more government services and digital tools tailored to various sectors, ensuring every resident benefits from our digital transformation,” he said.
Officials say the service will gradually expand to other public spaces, including hospitals, markets, and rural communities.
With this initiative, residents will have the chance to access online learning, telemedicine, e-commerce platforms, and government services—all without worrying about connectivity costs.
Empowering Citizens Through Technology
Imole Wi-Fi represents more than convenience—it is a vision for a digitally inclusive Osun.
By giving citizens free, reliable internet, the state is fostering an environment where knowledge, innovation, and opportunity are accessible to everyone.
Students can study online, local businesses can reach wider markets, and communities can benefit from technology-driven solutions to everyday challenges.
With this initiative, Osun State is positioning itself as a leader in digital inclusion, proving that free public internet can be a powerful tool for economic growth, social empowerment, and community development.
