Armed bandits attacked Wake village in Kaduna’s Kachia LGA, killing eight, injuring over 20, and abducting villagers, leaving the community in grief and fear
Tragedy struck Wake village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, 2025, when heavily armed bandits unleashed a brutal assault on the community.
The attackers killed at least eight residents, injured more than 20 others, and kidnapped an unspecified number of villagers.

According to accounts from locals, the assailants invaded the village in the dead of night, firing gunshots indiscriminately as terrified residents fled for safety.
Witnesses disclosed that the attackers came in large numbers and operated freely without any resistance, leaving the community completely vulnerable.
The gunmen targeted homes and farmlands, looting valuables before escaping with abducted villagers.
A source who spoke with Daily Post said the entire community has been thrown into shock, fear, and mourning.
“The assailants stormed the village in large numbers and carried out their heinous act unchallenged.
“Innocent souls were killed, many others sustained serious injuries, and several residents were abducted.
“Those killed have already been buried, the injured are receiving medical treatment, but we still don’t know where the abducted victims were taken,” he lamented.
At present, Wake villagers are conducting burials for the deceased while trying to support those hospitalized with severe injuries.

Families of the abducted victims remain traumatized, uncertain of the fate of their loved ones.
The source further appealed to both the federal government and the Kaduna State government to urgently intervene.
He urged authorities to deploy more security operatives to Kachia and its surrounding areas to forestall further attacks and restore peace.
Residents expressed concern that the attackers could strike again if immediate measures are not taken.
In response to the tragedy, the Chairman of Kachia Local Government Council, Hon. Manzo Daniel Maigari, led a delegation to St. Gerald Hospital in Kaduna, where the injured are receiving treatment.
He was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Peter Agite, and Hon. Gabriel Agwan, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing the Kachia constituency.
Their visit was described as a humanitarian gesture to console the victims, encourage their families, and assure them of government support.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
Residents continue to express frustration at the silence of security agencies, even as tension remains high across the area.
The Wake attack adds to the growing list of violent assaults in Southern Kaduna, where rural communities have repeatedly been targeted by armed groups in recent months.
