Jigawa Police arrest two notorious kidnappers and 165 suspects for kidnapping, robbery, drug trafficking, rape, vandalism and theft across the state.
The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its clampdown on criminal activities across the state, leading to the arrest of two notorious suspected kidnappers and 165 other suspects linked to various crimes ranging from armed robbery and burglary to rape, homicide, drug trafficking, and vandalism.

The development was announced by the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, during a press briefing in Dutse, where he highlighted the Command’s achievements over the past two months in curbing insecurity and addressing the menace of drug abuse within Jigawa and its neighboring states.
One of the most significant breakthroughs recorded by the Command was the arrest of a 47-year-old suspected kidnapping kingpin, Adamu Musa, a resident of Yalwawa Quarters in Dutse Local Government Area.
According to CP Muhammad, investigations revealed that Musa had been operating for years, terrorizing the people of Sumaila Local Government Area in Kano State by masterminding several abductions.
His modus operandi involved abducting victims and transporting them to Baranda Village in Dutse LGA, Jigawa State, where they were held captive until ransom was paid.
The police uncovered that Musa was directly involved in the kidnapping of four individuals from Sumaila LGA on different occasions.

The gang extorted a total of ₦8 million in cash and seized a motorcycle valued at ₦1 million from the victims’ families before releasing them.
CP Muhammad confirmed that Musa was apprehended and has since been charged to court, as investigations continue to track down other accomplices believed to be connected with his operations.
In a separate operation, the police made another major arrest on 29th August 2025 at about 3:00 p.m., following actionable intelligence.
An anti-kidnapping squad, in collaboration with vigilante groups attached to Ringim Division, successfully apprehended 25-year-old Iro Garba, a suspected kidnapper and armed robber from Zangwaye Fulani Settlement in Ajingi LGA of Kano State.
During interrogation, Garba confessed that he belonged to a five-man gang actively involved in multiple robbery and kidnapping operations across Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi States.
Police operatives recovered three pairs of military camouflage uniforms from his possession, a discovery that raised concerns about the gang’s tactics of impersonating security personnel to carry out crimes.
The CP disclosed that while Garba is now in custody, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the four remaining members of his gang who are currently at large.
The Commissioner also narrated how operatives of the Command dismantled a burglary syndicate in Malam Madori Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Nuhu Yusif Saleh (19 years old), Hassan Ibrahim (19 years old), and Nura Musa (22 years old), were arrested for allegedly breaking into a commercial shop and carting away valuables.
Recovered from the suspects were:
A safe containing ₦870,000 in cash
20 assorted mobile phones
Two power banks
One Point of Sale (PoS) terminal
A Bluetooth speaker
CP Muhammad emphasized that these arrests underscore the Command’s determination to confront not only violent crimes like kidnapping and armed robbery but also property crimes that disrupt businesses and local livelihoods.
Speaking further, CP Muhammad stated that beyond the highlighted high-profile arrests, the Command had successfully apprehended 156 additional suspects linked to various crimes within the period under review. These included:
2 suspected gunrunners
10 suspected armed robbers
8 suspects for culpable homicide
16 suspects for rape
16 vandals
50 drug barons and dealers
45 individuals for theft-related offences
These arrests, according to him, are part of ongoing operations to weaken the networks of criminals and restore peace across Jigawa State.
In addition to the arrests, the police also recovered several exhibits during raids and operations.
These included:
2 fabricated AK-47 rifles
3 vehicles, 1 tricycle, and 4 motorcycles
14 rustled cows
Large quantities of vandalized electrical cables
23 assorted mobile phones
3,907 pieces of Exol tablets
11,742 pieces of D5 tablets
395 tramadol tablets
861 wraps and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
1,121 Diazepam tablets
288 containers of rubber solution
40 pieces of Lara capsules
The CP explained that most of the drugs recovered were destined for distribution among youths, fueling criminal activities and substance abuse in the state.
While acknowledging the challenges of policing, CP Muhammad reassured residents of Jigawa that the Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He noted that intelligence-led policing, community partnership, and synergy with sister security agencies and vigilante groups have been key in the successes recorded so far.
He further appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police, stressing that the war against crime cannot be won by security agencies alone without the cooperation of citizens.
“Together, we can dismantle the criminal networks that threaten our peace and stability,” CP Muhammad said.
