Oyo Acting Governor Bayo Lawal congratulates Muslims on Eid-el-Mawlid 2025, urging prayers, unity, vigilance, and support for Oyo State’s development.
The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abduraheem Bayo Lawal, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Oyo State and across Nigeria on the commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Mawlid, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a goodwill message released on Thursday, September 4, 2025, and signed by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, the Acting Governor described the occasion as one of the most spiritually significant celebrations in Islam.
He emphasized that the day serves as a reminder of the Prophet’s exemplary life, devotion to Allah, and his message of peace, compassion, and justice for humanity.
Barrister Lawal noted that Eid-el-Mawlid offers Muslims another unique opportunity to renew their faith, strengthen their relationship with Allah, and make fervent prayers for the state and the nation at large.
According to him, the challenges facing Nigeria require not only the efforts of government but also the spiritual intercessions and moral commitment of the people.
He said: “On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, I felicitate with all Muslims in Oyo State and beyond on the occasion of Eid-el-Mawlid 2025.
“This celebration is not only a time of joy but also a call for deeper reflection on the values of honesty, sacrifice, compassion, and humility which the Holy Prophet embodied.
“As a festival that commemorates the birth of the Prophet, it provides another moment for Muslims to draw closer to Allah in worship and to seek His guidance for the peace, unity, and prosperity of our dear country.
“I therefore urge everyone to use this season to offer prayers for Oyo State, for Nigeria, and for the wellbeing of all mankind.”
The Acting Governor further expressed gratitude to the Muslim community in Oyo State for their steadfast support of the Makinde-led administration in the last six years.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by various groups in the state to sustain peace and stability, pledging that government would remain committed to policies that guarantee sustainable growth and development.
“Our government has enjoyed massive support from the people of Oyo State, especially the Muslim Ummah, and we deeply appreciate this partnership.
“As we enter the final phase of this administration, we need even greater cooperation from all stakeholders to consolidate our achievements and to reposition the state for greater prosperity,” he said.
On the issue of security, Barrister Lawal reassured residents that the government remains committed to ensuring maximum safety during and after the festivities.

He however urged citizens to play their part by staying vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
“As you celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Mawlid, I encourage everyone to celebrate in moderation and with caution.
“Our security agencies are on full alert to ensure a peaceful atmosphere, but we also need the vigilance of the people.
“Remember, if you see something, say something, so that necessary action can be taken swiftly,” he added.
The Acting Governor concluded his message by wishing all Muslims in Oyo State and Nigeria a joyous and hitch-free celebration.
Eid Mubarak!
