ADC accuses Tinubu’s government of manipulating infrastructure data, repackaging old projects, and promoting exclusionary governance.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of misrepresenting facts in its latest infrastructure report, warning that such actions only deepen mistrust and fuel the perception of unfair governance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the administration’s much-publicised document on regional development was less about accountability and more about political marketing.

According to the ADC, the report was carefully packaged to silence critics but instead exposed glaring inconsistencies, selective disclosures, and questionable classifications of projects.

The government had recently unveiled a glossy publication titled “Infrastructure Equity for Every Region. Progress for Every Nigerian. The Renewed Hope Agenda in Action.”

The ADC argued that while the document was meant to project fairness in project distribution, it ended up reinforcing the view that the Tinubu government thrives on propaganda rather than transparency.

Tinubu government infrastructure data manipulation

“The so-called progress report does not answer the real questions Nigerians are asking,” Abdullahi said. “Instead, it highlights cronyism, sloppy record-keeping, and a dangerous habit of twisting facts to fit political narratives.”

The ADC cited several examples where projects were credited to the wrong regions. Roads in Yobe and Borno States (clearly in the North-East) were strangely listed as North-West projects.

Similarly, projects in Kogi and Benue—states located in the North-Central zone—were reclassified as belonging to the North-West.

Even more troubling, according to the opposition party, was the duplication of certain projects—listed once under their actual region and again under the North-West.

“It is budget padding reinvented as infographics,” the statement noted.

The party further accused the administration of claiming credit for projects initiated under the Buhari government, only to repackage them as fresh achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

This, the ADC said, shows a lack of originality and an obsession with presentation over delivery.

Beyond misclassification, the party raised issues of transparency. It asked why details such as the cost of the Badagry–Sokoto Highway, the contractors involved, and the procurement process remain hidden from the public.

The ADC also questioned why certain projects receive generous funding while others, especially in opposition-controlled states, face indefinite delays.

The ADC did not limit its criticism to infrastructure data. It also accused the Tinubu administration of filling key federal appointments with individuals drawn largely from one region and one political network. Such practices, it argued, contradict the ideals of fairness and national inclusion.

“Even prominent figures in the South-West, who once championed Tinubu’s cause, now struggle to defend this government’s selective style of leadership,” Abdullahi stated.

The ADC insisted that Nigeria requires fairness, transparency, and genuine inclusiveness at this critical moment in its history.

It urged the Federal Government to abandon propaganda-driven politics and embrace honest governance.

“No colourful slideshow or glossy booklet can replace equity and justice.

“A government that builds its legitimacy on half-truths will always remain on shaky ground,” the statement concluded.
