Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has completed a loan move to Bayern Munich, with the German champions obliged to sign him permanently for £56.2m if he reaches a set number of appearances.

Bayern will pay an initial £14.3m for the 24-year-old to spend the rest of the 2025-26 season in Bavaria, with personal terms already agreed for a future five-year contract.

The move looked in doubt after Chelsea briefly recalled Jackson following Liam Delap’s injury in Saturday’s Premier League win over Fulham.

But with the return of Marc Guiu from his Sunderland loan, the Blues ultimately sanctioned the deal.

Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £32m in 2023, scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the London side.

“I’m really happy to now be part of this great club,” Jackson said after signing. “Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. Everyone knows the legends who played here. I have big goals and dreams, and I’ll give everything to help Bayern win titles.”

The Senegal international had been a regular starter for Chelsea until a series of costly red cards last season damaged his standing with manager Enzo Maresca.

Despite previously calling Jackson his “perfect number nine”, Maresca and sections of the club hierarchy lost faith in him, prompting the forward to push for a move.

Jackson could face Chelsea as early as 17 September, when Bayern host the Blues in the Champions League, with UEFA rules permitting loanees to play against their parent clubs.

His agent, Diomansy Barat, admitted the deal was far from straightforward:

“This has to be one of the hardest and best deals we’ve done. Nico had his heart set on Bayern, and we weren’t leaving Munich without trying everything. Chelsea understood his situation and helped make it happen, while Bayern showed huge persistence and desire to get him.”
