Police in Niger State arrest Hadiza Bala in Minna for allegedly pouring boiling water on her neighbour during a dispute, leaving the victim badly injured.
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman in Minna over an alleged attempt to kill her neighbour by pouring hot water on her during a domestic dispute.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP), Wasiu Abiodun, the suspect, identified as Hadiza Bala, popularly known as Mama Sabir, was taken into custody after a disturbing incident that left her neighbour with severe injuries.
The case has since been charged to court for attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous hurt.
Police reports revealed that the dispute between the two women started days earlier. On August 7, 2025, at about 12 p.m., the victim, who resides along Peter Sarki Road in the Tunga area of Minna, had an altercation with Hadiza Bala.
The quarrel was said to have been triggered by the alleged disposal of children’s excreta close to the room of the suspect. Although the disagreement was reportedly settled at that time, it appears the tension between both parties lingered.
The victim later reported to the Tudun-Wada Police Division that on August 9, 2025, at about 8 p.m., she was attacked within the compound by the suspect.
According to her, Hadiza deliberately targeted her and poured boiling water on her body.
The assault left her with serious burns to her chest and face, requiring immediate medical attention.
“On 9/8/2025 at about 9pm, a female victim of Peter Sarki road, Tunga Minna reported at Tudun-Wada Div that on 7/8/2025 at about 12pm, her neighbor one Hadiza Bala a.k.a Mama Sabir of same address had an altercation with her because of her children excreta/faeces close to Mama Sabir room, which was later settled,” the statement read.
“She added that surprisingly, on the 9/8/2025 at about 8pm, Mama Sabir targeted her within the compound and poured hot water on her body, and as a result, she sustained serious injuries on the face and the chest.
“The suspect was immediately arrested, investigated and charged to court for attempted culpable and causing grievous hurt with hot water.”
