Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan, with the move confirmed on Deadline Day.

The France international, 26, has agreed personal terms and the transfer is subject to international clearance and a work permit.

“I know what the coach expects from me,” Kolo Muani said after signing. “I will fight hard for the shirt, the club and the fans. I will give everything for this team.”

Manager’s verdict

Spurs boss Thomas Frank welcomed the forward’s arrival:

“Randal is a quality player who has proven himself over a number of years, playing for big teams in the Champions League and also with good experience for the France national team. He’s in the prime of his career, has qualities that suit both us and the Premier League, and gives us another option in attack. We’re excited for what he can add to the squad.”

Kolo Muani becomes Tottenham’s fourth senior signing of the summer after Mohammed Kudus, João Palhinha and Xavi Simons.

Together with Kudus and Simons, the Frenchman could form part of a new-look frontline as Spurs prepare for their Champions League return.

Context

Spurs’ window has not been without setbacks, with failed moves for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who instead joined Arsenal.

The late move for Kolo Muani was influenced by concerns over Dominic Solanke’s ankle injury, which left Spurs without a natural centre-forward in their recent 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Frank, however, insisted he remains confident in his attacking options:

“To have three strikers in the squad can also cause a problem, as you can only play one at a time. I’m happy with Solanke and Richarlison, but Randal gives us a different profile.”

Player profile

Best remembered by many for Emiliano Martínez’s famous save against him in the FIFA 2022 World Cup final, Kolo Muani has nevertheless built a strong reputation.

Two-footed, quick, and strong in the air at 6ft 1in, he has scored consistently across Europe: 10 goals in 22 matches for Juventus during a loan spell, 26 in 50 for Eintracht Frankfurt, and 11 in 54 at PSG — many of which came from the bench.

Seen as a silkier alternative to Richarlison, he can operate across the frontline and will add valuable depth as Spurs look to compete at home and abroad.

Career so far

Kolo Muani, who will wear the No.39 shirt in North London, has won two Ligue 1 titles with PSG, following stints at Nantes, Frankfurt and Juventus, he has also won 31 caps for France, scoring in the 2022 World Cup semi-final victory over Morocco and featuring in the final against Argentina.

“I’m really happy and proud to be at such a great club,” he told Spurs’ website. “I can’t wait to meet my teammates, the fans, and to get out on the pitch.”
