Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a deal worth an initial €21m (£18.1m) plus add-ons. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

“I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United. It is a real dream come true,” Lammens said. “The past few years have been an amazing journey, and it has now ended in an incredible destination — hopefully the beginning of something special.”

Lammens made 64 appearances for Royal Antwerp, helping the club lift the Belgian Super Cup in 2023, and earned his first senior call-up to the Belgium national team earlier this year.

United’s director of football Jason Wilcox welcomed the signing:

“Senne is an excellent young goalkeeper with great potential. We are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United after significant interest from a number of clubs.”

Lammens’ arrival comes as United look to solve ongoing issues in their goalkeeping department.

Altay Bayındır has struggled in the Premier League, while André Onana was criticised for an error in the club’s Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby.

Both were signed in the summer of 2023, when United also released long-serving No.1 David de Gea and sold England international Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, veteran third-choice keeper Tom Heaton, 39, has not featured for the first team in any competitive game since February 2023.
