The staff of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS TV) have made a passionate appeal to the Oyo State Government, stakeholders, and well-wishers to urgently intervene in what they describe as a critical crisis threatening the survival of the station.

In a message posted by Makanjuola Olalekan, a member of staff on BCOS’s official WhatsApp group, signed on behalf of all concerned staff and stakeholders, the workers expressed deep concern over the current state of affairs at BCOS TV, warning that the station is “facing a drowning saga” capable of undermining both its operations and its proud legacy as the voice of truth, culture, and community service in Oyo State.

“At this critical time, BCOS TV is facing a crisis that threatens not only its operations but also its legacy as a voice of truth, culture, and community service. We sincerely plead for official financial mercy and grace to be extended to BCOS TV. This will not only preserve the institution but also uphold the integrity of our leaders, showing their commitment to protecting public assets and ensuring that the right path is followed,” the message read.

The appeal, directed at the state government and influential stakeholders, emphasised that preserving BCOS TV is not just about saving a station, but about safeguarding the history and heritage of Oyo State and protecting the livelihoods of many workers who depend on it.

“This is about safeguarding history, protecting livelihoods, and securing the future of a platform that belongs to the people of Oyo State,” the staff declared.

The workers also urged their colleagues and supporters to treat the matter seriously and amplify their appeal until the necessary support is secured. They stressed that BCOS TV, which has been a vital cultural and information hub for decades, deserves to be preserved as a beacon of truth and community service.

“We urge all staff to treat this matter with utmost seriousness and concern, to passionately share this appeal across every possible channel until the attention of the right authorities is secured,” the message continued.

Calling the government to step in with immediate intervention, the staff concluded with a united plea: “For the sake of truth, culture, and community — let BCOS TV be saved.”

The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, established as a state-owned broadcasting institution, has long served as an avenue for promoting indigenous culture, community values, and credible information. With the current challenges threatening its existence, staff believe that urgent government attention is the only way to rescue and reposition the station to continue fulfilling its mandate.
