Liverpool have submitted a £35m bid for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as the transfer deadline approaches.
The Reds’ latest proposal includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause, but Palace value the England international at £40m and are seeking a package of £35m plus £5m in add-ons.

Palace remain reluctant to sell Guehi, who has entered the final year of his contract, unless they secure a replacement.
Manager Oliver Glasner has publicly urged the club to keep hold of the 24-year-old, describing him as “a crucial part” of their defensive foundation.

“From my side, he has to stay,” Glasner said. “It’s almost impossible now to find a replacement who can start immediately in the Premier League. Marc is fully committed and shows it every game.”
Discussions between the clubs have also included Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, with Palace showing interest in the versatile 27-year-old.
Any deal for Gomez would be separate, and while Liverpool are reluctant to sell, they would not sanction a loan move.

Gomez is also being monitored by AC Milan and Tottenham, though Milan are currently prioritising Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji.
With just over 48 hours remaining in the transfer window, Guehi’s future could go down to the wire.
Palace are simultaneously progressing with a £22.5m move for Toulouse’s 19-year-old centre-back Jaydee Canvot, and could sign more than one defender before the deadline.
