Oluwo of Iwo smoking marijuana allegations dismissed as false. The monarch curses detractors and affirms his innocence.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has openly distanced himself from allegations that he engages in the smoking of illicit drugs, particularly marijuana, describing the claims as mischievous fabrications aimed at discrediting his throne.

Speaking in a viral video circulated widely on social media, the monarch addressed a public gathering where he passionately defended his reputation and invoked divine judgment on those spreading the rumours.

According to him, such accusations were not only false but also orchestrated by individuals he described as unfortunate and misguided.

Oba Akanbi categorically stated that he had never indulged in the smoking of marijuana and challenged his accusers by placing his throne and reign in God’s hands.

He declared that if the allegations were indeed true, then God Himself should strip him of the crown of Iwoland. However, he maintained with confidence that the claims were baseless, insisting that those who levelled them would not escape divine punishment.

“They are lying against me. They are unfortunate people. Unless I am smoking marijuana.

“If I am a smoker, God should remove me from this throne. You, who are accusing me of being a smoker, God will punish you,” the monarch stated emphatically while addressing his people.

The Oluwo further described the controversy as part of a calculated attempt by detractors to undermine his credibility and sow seeds of doubt among his subjects.

He stressed that no amount of blackmail or propaganda would succeed in tarnishing the divine authority behind his reign.

The monarch’s strong rebuttal came shortly after the Court of Appeal reaffirmed his position as the legitimate and paramount ruler of Iwoland.

The court ruling, which upheld his enthronement, was met with jubilation among his supporters, and Oba Akanbi himself expressed immense gratitude, describing the judgment as proof that his ascension was not by accident but by divine ordination.

He emphasized that his kingship could never be overturned by human efforts, noting that his throne was backed by God’s will.

According to him, the false allegations about drug use were simply a continuation of desperate attempts to erode the spiritual and traditional authority vested in him, but such attempts would always fail.

“Those who fight against me are not fighting me but God’s will. This throne is not man-made; it is ordained by God, and no one can destroy what God has established,” he declared.

By dissociating himself publicly from the drug allegations, Oba Akanbi reaffirmed his image as a spiritual and cultural leader determined to safeguard the dignity of his throne while calling on his subjects to disregard baseless rumours and focus on unity, peace, and development in Iwoland.
