The 21st extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with Pakistan‘s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar playing a pivotal role in the discussions.

The meeting aimed to formulate a joint plan of action in response to the Israeli aggression in Palestine, with a focus on finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

Dar emphasized the need for the international community to take concrete actions to address the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.

He highlighted the importance of an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire, complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, unrestricted humanitarian access, and a comprehensive reconstruction plan.

“This is what we will seek, and we have contact with all parties, including the American party,” Dar stated, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.

The OIC session adopted an Arab counterproposal to the US plan for Gaza, which was welcomed by European governments, including Britain, France, Germany, and Italy.

These countries hailed the plan as a “realistic path” for rebuilding war-torn Gaza without uprooting its Palestinian inhabitants. The proposal aims to rebuild Gaza without displacing its 2.4 million inhabitants, who have endured devastating conflict.

Dar stressed that any attempt to forcibly relocate the Palestinian people would be considered ethnic cleansing and a war crime under international law.

“We commend the serious efforts of all involved stakeholders and appreciate the important signal the Arab states have sent by jointly developing this recovery and reconstruction plan,” he said.

The OIC urged the international community and funding institutions to provide swift support for the plan.

The meeting comes at a time when the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to escalate, with severe humanitarian consequences.

The OIC’s adoption of the Arab counterproposal reflects the organization’s commitment to finding a solution that prioritizes the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.

In his remarks, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the need for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing the crisis, stating that the OIC would stand united against any sinister agenda aimed at altering the demography of the occupied Palestinian territories.

The outcome of the OIC session is significant, as it reflects the collective stance of Islamic countries on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The adoption of the Arab counterproposal sends a strong message that the international community must prioritize the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people in any solution.

As Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty noted, the next step is for the plan to become an international plan through adoption by the European Union and other parties.

In conclusion, the OIC session in Jeddah marked a crucial step in addressing the Israeli aggression in Palestine.

With Pakistan at the forefront of the efforts, the meeting highlighted the need for collective action to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

The adoption of the Arab counterproposal reflects the OIC’s commitment to prioritizing the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, and it is hoped that this will pave the way for meaningful progress in the region.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s stance against Israeli aggression marks a crucial step towards unity among Muslim nations.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s call for an emergency meeting to address Israel’s attacks on Iran highlights the need for collective action. By condemning Israel’s actions and advocating for severed ties, the OIC demonstrates its commitment to supporting Palestine and opposing Israeli aggression.

This unified front is vital in the face of escalating violence and human rights abuses, emphasizing the importance of solidarity among Muslim nations in addressing regional crises.
