This meeting will provide party leaders with the opportunity to discuss pressing political issues, plan for party unity, and collaborate on developmental initiatives within their respective states
Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have converged in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, for a high-level strategic meeting aimed at strengthening the party and shaping its political direction ahead of future engagements.

The governors, who arrived in Gusau on Friday evening, were warmly received by their host, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.
In attendance are the Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Dauda Lawal.
Others present includes the acting PDP National chairman Umar Damagun, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees Adolphus Wabara, Senate Minority Leader Abbo Moro, senator Ibrahim Dankwambo among others.

To formally welcome them, Governor Lawal hosted his colleagues to a dinner, which served as a prelude to the crucial meeting scheduled for Saturday morning.
According to a statement issued by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the Zamfara State governor, the PDP Governors Forum convened to deliberate on pressing political matters, particularly as the party navigates Nigeria’s dynamic political terrain.
Idris explained that the session was designed to strengthen party unity, harmonize developmental agendas across PDP-controlled states, and build consensus on strategies for the future.
“This meeting will provide party leaders with the opportunity to discuss pressing political issues, plan for party unity, and collaborate on developmental initiatives within their respective states,” Idris noted.
The gathering, which later went into a closed-door session on Saturday, is also expected to address preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
At the convention, the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is expected to unveil critical resolutions and decisions that could significantly shape the party’s fortunes in the months ahead.
