Arsenal have completed the signing of England international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a deal worth £60m, including £8m in add-ons.
The 27-year-old becomes the Gunners’ seventh summer signing and their most eye-catching move of the window.
The transfer represents a dramatic twist in the north London rivalry; Tottenham had agreed terms with both Palace and Eze, but Arsenal swooped in on Wednesday and convinced the forward — a boyhood Gunners fan who began his youth career at the club — to return to the Emirates.
A relaxed Eze, dressed in jeans and an Arsenal shirt, was unveiled to supporters ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Leeds United , drawing a rapturous reception.
Arsenal hail a ‘creative and explosive talent’

Sporting director Andrea Berta described Eze as “a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality.”
“He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today. His journey, mentality and ambition are exactly what we want in our team.”
Eze, raised in Greenwich, south-east London, came through Arsenal’s academy before making his name at QPR.
He joined Palace for £19.5m in 2020, going on to score 40 goals in 169 games for the Eagles, last season, he produced 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, including the winner in the FA Cup final.
He made his England debut in 2023 and signed a new Palace contract later that year, but Arsenal’s late move proved irresistible given his emotional ties to the club.
How Arsenal hijacked the deal
Arsenal’s intervention came after an injury to Kai Havertz forced the club to reconsider their attacking options.
Rather than seek a short-term loan, the Gunners saw an opportunity to strengthen long-term while denying Spurs another key target.

Tottenham had been on the verge of completing the signing, but delays linked to Palace’s Europa Conference League tie against Fredrikstad left the door open.
Arsenal submitted their bid on Wednesday afternoon, and Eze’s choice was straightforward once his boyhood club came calling.
The move takes Arsenal’s summer spending past £200m as they aim to end a five-year trophy drought.
Eberechi Eze merchandise was on sale outside Emirates Stadium before the deal was even announced.
Eze bids farewell to Palace
In an emotional message on social media, Eze thanked Crystal Palace and their supporters for their role in his journey.
“It feels like just yesterday I joined from QPR. The day you gave me the chance to realise my dream of playing in the Premier League, for south London’s biggest club. Throughout the challenges, from my Achilles injury to my return at Selhurst Park, the love you have shown me will live in my heart forever.”

Eze’s departure marks the end of a remarkable chapter at Selhurst Park, but for Arsenal, his arrival is set to inject creativity, explosiveness, and fresh competition into their forward line — while landing a major psychological blow on rivals Tottenham.
