Nigerian Afrobeat star, Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, has spoken publicly for the first time since surviving a violent robbery attack that left him hospitalised with multiple injuries.

According to reports, the “Shoki” crooner was ambushed by suspected robbers in Lagos earlier this week.

The assailants inflicted a deep stab wound to his neck and also left him with a severe injury to his ear.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the attackers made away with the singer’s luxury jewellery, estimated to be worth several millions of naira.

Confirming his ordeal, Lil Kesh reassured fans that despite the near-fatal encounter, he is alive and on the path to recovery.

In a heartfelt message shared via social media, the award-winning artist expressed gratitude to God and to his supporters for their overwhelming prayers and encouragement.

“Life threw me a curveball, but I’m safe, healing, and blessed to be here.

Grateful for the love, support and prayers,” he wrote, adding that his focus now is on regaining strength and moving forward from the traumatic experience.

Since news of the attack broke, fans across Nigeria and the diaspora have flooded the singer’s social media pages with words of comfort.

Fellow artistes and industry colleagues have also expressed solidarity, describing the incident as another reminder of the growing concerns around public safety in Lagos and other major Nigerian cities.

Prominent entertainers including Olamide, Fireboy DML, and Zlatan reportedly reached out privately, with many promising to stand by Lil Kesh during his recovery process.

Lil Kesh, who rose to prominence under Olamide’s YBNL Nation with hit tracks like Efejoku and Shoki, has enjoyed significant success in Nigeria’s vibrant music industry.

Known for his energetic style and street-inspired sound, he has carved a niche for himself as one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic voices.

While the robbery incident has undoubtedly shaken the artist, his message of resilience suggests he is determined not to let it derail his career.

Music insiders hint that once fully recovered, Lil Kesh may channel the painful experience into new creative work, as many artists have done in the past.

This violent attack once again raises questions about the security challenges faced by Nigerian celebrities who are often targeted for their wealth and public status.

Analysts note that the incident underscores the urgent need for better policing, especially in urban centres where violent robberies and assaults have been on the rise.

For now, Lil Kesh says his priority is healing. His fans, meanwhile, continue to await his return to the stage, hopeful that the ordeal will only strengthen his artistry and resolve.
