The Ondo State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the shocking death of a commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Isah Ibrahim, whose lifeless body was discovered inside a well located at the Ore Township Stadium in Odigbo Local Government Area.

The incident, which has thrown the Ore community into grief and heightened fears of insecurity, is being treated as a suspected case of foul play.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the tragic development to journalists.

He explained that Ibrahim had been declared missing on Saturday, August 17, when he failed to return home after work.

Despite frantic efforts by his colleagues and family members, who reportedly combed various parts of Ore in search of him, his whereabouts remained unknown until Thursday, when his remains were shockingly found inside the well.

Following the gruesome discovery, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mr. Adebowale Razaq, immediately ordered detectives to swing into action.

He has mandated a thorough probe aimed at unravelling the actual circumstances behind Ibrahim’s death and ensuring that the perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted without delay.

DSP Ayanlade assured residents of Ore and the wider Ondo public that the command is determined to investigate the matter.

He appealed for calm, urging the community to trust in the police process rather than take the law into their own hands.

“We understand the pain and anxiety this incident has caused. However, we urge all parties to remain calm as the Police intensify investigations.

“Justice will be served, and those behind this heinous act will not go unpunished,” the police spokesperson said.

Investigations so far suggest that the tragedy may be linked to motorcycle snatching, a crime that has become disturbingly rampant in Ore and other parts of Odigbo in recent times.

Reports indicate that Ibrahim’s Bajaj motorcycle, which he used for commercial transportation, is still missing.

This discovery has reinforced suspicions that his killers may have targeted him in order to steal his motorcycle.

A fellow motorcyclist in Ore, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed deep worry over the growing insecurity in the town.

He said commercial riders now live in constant fear of being attacked by criminal gangs who disguise as passengers only to rob them of their motorcycles.

“We are not safe anymore, the killing of Isah is just one of many cases of motorcycle snatching in Ore, every rider is at risk.

“We plead with the Police and other security agencies to intensify patrols, track down these criminals, and put a permanent stop to this menace.

“If urgent action is not taken, many more of us may lose our lives in the same way,” he lamented.

The tragic incident has sparked outrage and anxiety among Ore residents, who are demanding swift justice and stronger security measures.

Many have also called for the introduction of a joint task force involving the police, local vigilantes, and community leaders to tackle the rising wave of violent crimes in the area.

As investigations continue, the death of Isah Ibrahim has once again drawn attention to the growing insecurity faced by commercial motorcyclists in Ondo State and across Nigeria.

For many, the incident is a painful reminder of the urgent need for better protection of vulnerable groups who risk their lives daily just to earn a living.
