Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has poured cold water on speculation surrounding Andrey Santos’ future, confirming that the Brazilian midfielder will remain at Stamford Bridge this season.
Speaking on Friday (today) Maresca expressed his satisfaction with the 20-year-old’s development and importance to the squad, stressing his ability to provide depth in key midfield roles.

“I’m very happy with Andrey and very happy with him staying here with us,” Maresca said. “He can play in Enzo Fernández’s position for sure, and he can also play in Moisés Caicedo’s position for sure.”
The Chelsea boss views Santos’ versatility as a vital asset as the Blues aim to bounce back from a frustrating opening-day draw with Crystal Palace.
Chelsea face West Ham in another London derby at the London Stadium tonight, with both clubs searching for their first Premier League win of the 2025/26 season.

The Hammers endured a difficult start, falling 3-0 to Sunderland in their opener.
Historically, Chelsea have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture, winning 16 of their last 29 meetings with West Ham, who have managed eight victories and five draws.

However, recent trends favour David Moyes’ side, who have won four of their last eight home league games against the Blues.
With Santos now firmly part of Maresca’s plans, Chelsea will hope the youngster’s presence in midfield can help tip the balance in their favour tonight.
