Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he turned down a €200m package bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, citing a promise made to head coach Antonio Conte.

Speaking to ltalian reporters, De Laurentiis disclosed that PSG tabled the offer for the attacking duo but he refused to sell, honouring his word to Conte that the pair would remain at the club.

“I could have sold him at that moment. PSG had offered over €200m for the Kvara and Osimhen package,” the Napoli chief said. “However, I had promised Conte I would keep him, and I didn’t feel like going back on my word. With those funds, the idea was to buy Gyökeres.”

The Italian, however, admitted that Kvaratskhelia’s eventual departure to PSG for €75m in January 2025 was forced by the player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, who threatened to invoke FIFA’s Article 17.

“After the Georgian’s extraordinary first season, we immediately moved to negotiate a contract extension, increasing his salary and offering him a significant sum. However, his agent had other plans. At the Euros in Germany, he stalled negotiations and made false claims about unpaid promises from [former sporting director] Cristiano Giuntoli,” De Laurentiis explained.

Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia were central to Napoli’s historic 2022/23 Serie A triumph, the club’s first in 33 years, with Osimhen finishing as top scorer and Kvaratskhelia named MVP.

Both players have since left Naples, with Kvaratskhelia sealing a €75m move to PSG and Osimhen joining Galatasaray permanently for the same fee after an initial loan spell.
