Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson will not feature in Chelsea’s matchday squad for Friday’s Premier League clash against West Ham, as speculation mounts over the striker’s future.
Head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed Jackson’s absence at his Thursday press conference, admitting uncertainty remains with the transfer window still open.
“[Jackson] is available, but he’s not going to be part of the squad,” Maresca said. “We have two strikers, two players in that position, and also we know something can happen before the transfer window closes. I prefer to stay focused on training sessions and preparing for the game.”

Aston Villa are among the clubs monitoring Jackson’s situation, with Unai Emery keen on a reunion with the 24-year-old, whom he previously managed at Villarreal.
Sources suggest up to six clubs are weighing bids, though Chelsea’s asking price could depend on developments around Alexander Isak, whose uncertain future at Newcastle may influence the striker market.

Jackson has already informed Chelsea that he wants to consider his options this summer, with the Blues having strengthened their attack by signing Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
The Senegal international missed Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan, and sat out the opening league fixture against Crystal Palace due to suspension.
Despite a mixed campaign last term, Jackson scored 13 goals in 37 appearances after netting 17 in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s summer overhaul continues, with Renato Veiga agreed to join Villarreal in a deal worth around £26m (€30m) according to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old Portuguese defender, signed from Basel last year, spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus and has already earned five senior international caps.
Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling’s future is also uncertain, Fulham have expressed interest, though a move looks unlikely at this stage.
The 29-year-old has two years left on his contract but has been training away from the first team and did not travel for the FIFA Club World Cup.

He spent last season on loan at Arsenal and has not played for Chelsea since scoring against Bournemouth in May 2024.
With the transfer window entering its final weeks, Chelsea are expected to sanction further exits as they continue reshaping Maresca’s squad.
