The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has celebrated one of its personnel, Assistant Route Commander Babatunde J. Owoeye, of the Osun State Sector Command, for demonstrating rare integrity and professionalism in the discharge of his duties.

The recognition came during a ceremony held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the FRSC headquarters in Osun State, where officers, stakeholders, and invited guests gathered to commend Owoeye’s exceptional record of rejecting bribe offers from traffic offenders.
According to official records, Owoeye turned down bribes from motorists on 104 separate occasions in July 2025 alone, setting an unprecedented benchmark in the history of the command.
His consistency in upholding the FRSC’s code of ethics was further highlighted by his earlier records—18 rejected bribes in May and 38 in June—showing a pattern of uncompromising discipline.
Speaking at the event, the Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega, described Owoeye as a shining example of integrity in public service.
He noted that the officer’s conduct not only upholds the commission’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption but also strengthens public confidence in the FRSC as an institution committed to fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Adegboyega further emphasized that the honour bestowed on Owoeye was in line with the vision of the Corps Marshal, Sheu Mohammed, who has consistently championed anti-corruption reforms within the organisation.
He added that such recognition serves both as motivation for other officers and as proof to the public that honesty in service will not go unnoticed.
“For his outstanding integrity and unwavering refusal to compromise, Assistant Route Commander Babatunde J. Owoeye has been awarded a special commendation and a cash reward of ₦250,000.
“Recording 104 ‘Attempt to Corrupt Marshal on Duty’ (ACS) cases in just one month is a feat never before achieved in this command,” Adegboyega declared.
The FRSC leadership reiterated its firm stance against bribery and extortion, assuring Nigerians that it would continue to promote professionalism while rewarding discipline and integrity within its ranks.
The commission urged other personnel to emulate Owoeye’s example, stressing that integrity remains the cornerstone of effective road safety enforcement.
