Popular comedian and actor Woli Arole has sparked social media debate after strongly condemning the growing trend of women appearing at public events without wearing bras. The entertainer, known for blending comedy with social commentary, took to Instagram to express his disapproval, describing the practice as “highly indecent and morally disturbing.”

According to Woli Arole, the trend has become increasingly visible at weddings, birthdays, and other social gatherings, where women attend braless under stylish outfits.

While many argue that such fashion choices fall under women’s personal freedom, the comedian insists that normalising it risks eroding societal values.

In his viral post, Arole declared:

“It is highly indecent for a lady to go out to a public event and wear clothes without a bra.

You see wedding guests without bra. Haaa! Birthday guests without bra.

It’s bad! Be decent. Anyone who defends braless outing is also indecent in her thought.”

He added that such dressing is not only inappropriate but also distracting, particularly in formal or family-oriented settings.

“Your nipple is showing. To an event, you are seated, distracting even the husband and groomsmen.

Then you say, ‘my body, my choice.’ Can you go braless to an interview? For a corporate organisation that wants to pay you millions? We are glorifying nonsense and insanity,” he stated.

Arole further expressed concern that if voices are not raised against the practice, it could result in the loss of moral values for future generations.

“With the way things are going, if we don’t speak up, a generation might not have morality again.

Me, I will speak up, because silence will lead to senselessness in this generation,” he warned.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions online.

While some social media users applauded him for addressing what they view as a moral concern, others criticized his remarks as policing women’s bodies and reinforcing outdated gender expectations.

Fashion and gender rights advocates argue that women should retain the right to choose their mode of dressing without fear of judgment or restrictions.

For them, the braless trend is not a moral issue but a matter of comfort, confidence, and body autonomy.

Meanwhile, supporters of Arole’s view insist that freedom of choice must be balanced with cultural decency, respect for social spaces, and consideration for others.

This is not the first time the comedian has waded into controversial debates.

In the past, he has spoken out against premarital sex, surrogacy, and other societal issues, often framing them through a mix of humor and religious undertones.

As the debate continues, one thing remains clear: Woli Arole’s remarks have reignited national conversations around fashion, morality, and individual rights — a reflection of Nigeria’s ongoing cultural evolution.
