The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has indefinitely suspended Senator Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of the state, over alleged anti-party activities.
Kunle Folarin, a close associate and loyalist of Daniel, has also been suspended.

Nuberu Olufemi, the Director of Publicity for the Ogun APC, announced the news on Tuesday in an official statement issued to journalists.
According to Olufemi, the decision was reached during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC), presided over by the state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, as part of efforts to enforce party discipline and uphold its constitution.
Both Daniel, who represents Ward 4, and Folarin, representing Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area, were the subject of disciplinary investigations following reports of misconduct.
The two wards had set up independent committees to probe allegations that the duo engaged in activities deemed harmful to the party’s cohesion and reputation.
The statement detailed that Ward 4 constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate Senator Daniel over claims of anti-party conduct, while Ward 6 did the same for Hon. Kunle Folarin, amid allegations of gross misconduct and intimidation of party members.
The committees sent formal letters inviting both individuals to attend disciplinary hearings, present evidence in their defense, or seek forgiveness from the party leadership.
However, both Daniel and Folarin reportedly ignored the invitations. They neither submitted written defenses nor appeared before the committees for the scheduled hearings.
“In their absence,” the statement explained, “the committees proceeded to hear from available witnesses, reviewed relevant documents, and considered the allegations in detail.”
The investigation also uncovered claims that the two members had allegedly harassed party members, warning them against cooperating with the committees.
Additionally, it was alleged that they attempted to use their influence within the party to pressure members into withdrawing complaints against them.
In response to these findings, the committees concluded that the integrity of the disciplinary process had been compromised and recommended immediate suspension of both Daniel and Folarin.
The suspension is indefinite, pending further investigation and the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
Copies of the suspension letters were forwarded to the state chairman for review and approval by the SWC, which subsequently ratified the action.
The party emphasized that the suspension reflects a strong stance against any attempts to undermine internal processes and reinforces its commitment to transparency, discipline, and adherence to the APC constitution.
The development marks a significant moment in Ogun APC politics, as it underscores the party’s determination to maintain order, prevent interference in disciplinary processes, and ensure that all members are held accountable regardless of their position or influence within the party.
